What I Like vs. What I Don’t Like in League Team Names
Having captained multiple Tier 1 Clash brackets and played in collegiate leagues, here are my rules for choosing a League of Legends team name:
What I Love:
- Matching Three-Letter Tag: Clash teams receive a 3-letter bracket tag (e.g., [DEM], [NOX], [CLH]). Pick a name that condenses into a recognizable, authoritative tag.
- Runeterra Lore Flavor: Connecting your team with regions like Demacia, Noxus, or Piltover shows deep game literacy.
- High Readability in Bracket Overlays: Clear lettering without confusing zero/O or symbol clutter ensures tournament casters pronounce your name correctly.
What I Avoid:
- Excessive Salt / Toxicity: Names designed solely around profanity or griefing can be flagged and forcibly renamed to default placeholders by Riot’s automated filters.
- Impersonating Official LEC / LCS Orgs: Naming your team “T1”, “G2 Esports”, or “Fnatic” without contract rights looks cheap.
- Overly Long Run-On Sentences: Long titles wrap awkwardly across the Clash bracket client interface.
My Top 3 Personal Picks from This List
- Noxian Trifarix: Brutal, imperial, and commands instant respect on Summoner’s Rift.
- FF At 15 Or Feed: The definitive humorous Clash team name that breaks the ice and keeps the team laughing through tough games.
- Hextech Innovators: Sleek, modern, and pays homage to the beloved world of Arcane.
What to Do When Your Clash Team Name Is Taken
If your desired team name is claimed in your Clash tier bracket, try these simple solutions:
- Add Region / Tier Suffixes: For example, Demacian Vanguard NA or Trifarix Tier 1.
- Use Roman Numerals: Adding a numeral like Vanguard V looks established and prestigious.
- Create an Unforgettable 3-Letter Tag: The tag in brackets is what appears next to player summoner names in-game!
